Convicted sex offender sentenced to prison for failure to register
Clayton Mitchell, a 32-year-old convicted sex offender from Washington, was sentenced in federal court Thursday to two years in prison for failing to register as a sex offender.
According to statements made in court, Mitchell, of 271 Locust St., failed to register as a sex offender from Oct. 23, 2015 to Feb. 16, 2016, He had been convicted of rape in 2010.
Mitchell was required to register and update his registration under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification act while he lived in Washington County.
City police charged Mitchell, a former resident of Detroit, Mich., and Huntingdon, in October 2009.
Mitchell entered a guilty plea in Washington County Court in March 2010 to a felony charge of rape of an unconscious victim and was sentenced to four to eight years in prison.
