Two Washington women accused of selling crack
Two Washington women were arrested Friday by members of Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force for allegedly selling crack from their respective apartments at 20 Moore Ave.
Laurie Johnston, 46, and Jennifer Martin, 33, had been under investigation by the task force for the last several months. Detectives obtained two sealed search warrants for the apartments after their investigation allegedly showed the drugs were being sold from their respective residences.
Detectives, Washington County sheriff’s deputies and California police K-9 team served the search warrants Friday. Seized during the search of the apartments were more than 30 grams of crack, $1,000, video surveillance images and paraphernalia, police said.
Customers were coming to their apartments to purchase the drug, said Rick Gluth, task force director.
“We are starting to see more crack,” Gluth said, adding he did not know if dealers were becoming concerned about selling heroin.
The women were arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver crack and possession of paraphernalia. Both were placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bonds. Martin was released over the weekend after posting bond. They are scheduled for a March 2 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
