MONONGAHELA – A knife was discovered in a student’s backpack during a routine security check Tuesday morning at an entrance to Ringgold High School.

The student with the weapon told the school principals he mistakenly brought the weapon to school after putting it in his bag during an activity the previous evening, Ringgold Superintendent Karen Polkabla said.

No threats were made during the discovery while the student walked through a metal detector, she said.

Polkabla declined to comment on whether or not the student was disciplined by the principals at his school in Carroll Township.
