North Strabane Township supervisors are expected to take action Tuesday on a resolution on the transfer of a liquor license for the Sheetz store at 2401 Washington Road.

Attorney Paul Namey, representing Sheetz, said the company is looking to add beer and wine sales to its menu.

Namey said a liquor license obtained through a state Liquor Control Board auction would allow the gas station/convenience store to sell hard liquor.

However, Namey told township supervisors Tuesday the store only has plans to sell beer and wine.

In order to sell alcoholic beverages, the store will undergo a major remodeling to include a required seating area, separate register and beer cave that can be locked during nonsale hours.

According to Namey, the store plans to offer alcohol sales from 7 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Patrons are permitted to consume up to two beers at the store. No wine can be consumed onsite.

Namey said the chain mandates a five-step training process for employees to sell alcohol. Sheetz already has alcohol sales in nine other Pennsylvania locations, Namey said.
