Officials: 2 IUP shootings appear unrelated
INDIANA (AP) – Authorities in Western Pennsylvania said two early morning shootings that injured four people near the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus appear to be unrelated.
Police in Indiana County said the first shooting about 1 a.m. Saturday in Indiana injured two people. The second occurred about a half-hour later and injured two other people.
The Indiana Gazette reported university officials informed the campus two students were being treated and borough police had taken people into custody.
Officials said neither shooting occurred on the university campus. The paper said the shootings occurred during “IUPatty’s Day,” an unsanctioned student celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
