Waynesburg U. to host two education experts
Waynesburg University will host guest speakers Zipora “Tsipy” Gur and Avi Ben-Hur at 7 p.m. Monday in Alumni Hall as part of the Glenn A. and Jane L. Crosby Humanities Lectureship.
Ben-Hur’s topic will address the challenges facing the Trump administration in the Middle East.
He is the director of education and scholar-in-residence for Classrooms Without Borders, a nonprofit educational organization in association with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. Ben-Hur also is on the faculty of the University of Haifa Tourism School, and is an examiner for the Israeli Ministry of Tourism Licensing Board.
Gur, the executive director and founder of CWB, will share information about her organization and its mission.
She has worked in the field of Jewish education for more than 35 years, creating cutting-edge programs in professional development and teacher training, supervising and mentoring teachers, teaching high school students and developing new programs to stimulate students in the classroom.
Admission is free.
The Crosby Humanities Lectureship is funded by 1950 magna cum laude graduates of Waynesburg University, Glenn A. and Jane Lichtenfels Crosby, to bring to the school visiting scholars who are distinguished in their disciplines.
During the visit, the scholars often interact with faculty, staff and students, giving guest lectures in classes, formal presentations and informal group talks. The event culminates in the final public lecture.
