Charities encouraged to register for WCCF Gives
Washington County Community Foundation is encouraging eligible charities to register for WCCF Gives, Washington County’s official communitywide day of giving, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 12.
During the one-day event, WCCF will enhance contributions made to participating charities via www.wccfgives.org or by check by a bonus pool anticipated to be at least $100,000.
To help create a more level playing field for the participating charities, who vary greatly in size, the bonus pool will be distributed as follows: 50 percent of the bonus pool by the number of donors and 50 percent by the total dollar amount.
By encouraging all WCCF Gives participants to grow their base of donors, the foundation hopes to help the charities build a resource that could yield significant, long-term benefits to their development initiatives both on the day of giving and year-round.
“Since its inception four years ago, WCCF Gives has awarded more than $2.4 million to local charities,” said Betsie Trew, president and CEO of WCCF. “During Gives Day 2016, we realized a 13 percent increase in the number of participating donors. And 33 percent of the 107 participating charities realized both an increase in the number of donors and an increase in dollars contributed over 2015.”
In addition to being encouraged by the growth of the event, WCCF has received a great deal of positive feedback from participating charities.
Dean Gartland, president and CEO of the City Mission, said, “WCCF Gives celebrates the spirit of giving and the collective effort it takes to strengthen our community, while radiating the excitement and engagement of a much-anticipated countywide block party. Once again, WCCF has assisted every nonprofit in Washington County with raising awareness and critical funds.”
The online donation portal on www.wccfgives.org will open at 8 a.m. WCCF Gives contributions via check will be eligible for the bonus pool if they are received at the foundation by 8 p.m. on Gives day.
Check-writing donors wishing to support multiple charities are encouraged to submit only one check for the total amount along with an official WCCF Gives Check Contribution Form, which will be available on www.wccfgives.org and at the foundation’s office in July.
Sponsors of WCCF Gives 2017 include Washington Financial Bank, Chapman Corp., Alex Paris Contracting, ANSYS, Observer-Reporter, and Washington Auto Mall.
