A necessary upgrade to Horizon View Road is on the horizon for Southpointe II.
At its monthly meeting Thursday, Washington County Authority approved a proposal from Kimball Engineers to develop bid documents and engineering and design plans for improving the road between Town Center and Homewood Suites.
“We own the road, but it’s not up to (Cecil Township) standards,” said Bill Sember, director of operations for the authority.
Kimball will design a bituminous road surface, concrete curbs and sidewalks and streetlights.
“When it’s done, we will turn the road over to Cecil,” said Sember, who hopes to award a contract by the end of August, following the design and bidding process.
The authority board also approved agreements with 400 Woodcliff Drive Associates to build on the final lot available on Woodcliff Drive in Southpointe II. Bear Construction Inc. of Southpointe will erect a building with a minimum of two stories and 30,000 square feet of space.
“They have six months to put together a development proposal,” Sember said.
Southpointe Heights Associates, a group of nine surgeons, had a sales agreement on that property but decided against closing on it, Sember said.
The board also extended to April 1 an option Quattro Investment Group LP has on the property where Ansys is building its new headquarters in Southpointe II. Quattro, the landlord, had its four-month option expire Thursday.
