A woman working inside the Washington County Courthouse Annex sued both an elevator company and the county over an accident two years ago.

Beverly Jordan of Allison Park, Allegheny County, said she was inside the government building, 100 W. Beau St., as part of her job as an independent title abstractor and land agent on March 22, 2011, when an elevator slammed on her right arm, injuring it, her hand, shoulder and back.

Named as a defendant along with the county was Eastern Elevator Service and Sales of Windber, Somerset County.

Jordan said in the suit that she had surgery and lost wages due to the incident. Her allegations against Eastern Elevator include product liability, while she also alleges that the county was negligent in its maintenance of the elevator.

Jordan’s husband, George, is also a plaintiff in the suit seeking unspecified damages that was filed this week in Washington County Court.
