Sarah L. Tinkey
Sarah L. Tinkey, 83, of Claysville, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg, from complications of leukemia.
She was born January 6, 1930, in Wheeling, W.Va., a daughter of the late Hubert Henry and Carolyn Gamage McLain Cooper.
Mrs. Tinkey was a resident of Buffalo Township for most of her adult life.
She was a member and former Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church in Claysville.
Mrs. Tinkey was a 1947 graduate of the former West Liberty High School, West Liberty, W.Va. She was employed from 1952 to 1980 by the former Claysville Recorder.
Mrs. Tinkey was also a member of the Claysville Homemakers Club and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading and traveling with her late husband.
On November 4, 1955, she married Jesse Earl Tinkey, a Pearl Harbor survivor, who died January 8, 2002.
Surviving are a sister, Martha, wife of Howard (Eddie) Brownlee of Washington; two nephews, Michael, husband of Shari Brownlee and Robert, husband of Helga Clark; four great-nephews, Larry, husband of Theresa Clark and Wayne E., husband of Martha Clark, Travis and Jacob Brownlee; and a great-niece, Amber Brownlee.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, Claysville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, with Pastor David Coleman officiating and Pastor James R. Sevon Jr. assisting. Interment will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
