Jefferson-Morgan eke out one-point win over C-H

HOUSTON – Dennis Garrett caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Broadwater and the ensuing extra point by Josh Clites was good and Jefferson-Morgan made it stand in a 7-6 victory over Chartiers-Houston in a season opener Friday nigh.

Chartiers-Houston took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter when Matt Whitfield scored on a 2-yard run. The extra-point attempt failed.

There was no scoring in the game after Garrett’s TD. The Rockets did intercept a pass inside their 30-yard line late in the third quarter by Clites.

Whitfield rushed for 124 yards on 34 carries and Garrett had 2 receptions for 53 yards.
