Police Beat Aug. 9
Man jailed: Marquise Dempsey, 20, of 1022 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with tampering with evidence, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, court records show. Police accuse Dempsey of hiding a bag of crack under the seat of a cruiser after an officer took him into custody about 10:50 a.m. July 5 in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. District Judge Larry Hopkins set bond in the case Monday at $25,000 during a video arraignment from Washington County jail, where Dempsey also is being held on a parole violation.
Equipment stolen: A bale spearing machine, hand tools and other items were stolen from a pipeline site on Hickory Ridge Road, Chartiers police said.
Driver injured: William Jenkins, III, of 53 Aylesworth Ave., Washington, was injured Thursday morning when a vehicle driven by Mike Minder of 162 Ketchum Drive, Canonsburg, struck his vehicle at Country Club Road and North Main Street Extension, Chartiers police said. Jenkins complained of back pain.
Steel block stolen: Chartiers police said 10 to 20 steel blocks were stolen Aug. 2 from Acu Dre, 175 S. Country Club Road. A gold, full-sized van with a black hood was seen in the area.
One injured: Keith Fischer of Wellsburg, W.Va., was injured Aug. 2 when his vehicle was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Erin Narquini of Avella in the 800 block of Western Avenue, Chartiers police said. Fischer was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Man jailed: Michael Alvin Wardle, 33, of 693 Venetia Road, Peters Township, is charged by borough police with resisting arrest, public drunkenness and harassment, court records show. Police accuse Wardle of having a brief struggle with an officer investigating a complaint Wardle held his girlfriend, Jessica Nichols, against a fence during a disturbance about 12:15 a.m. July 22 at Sixth Street and Thompson Avenue. District Judge Larry Hopkins set bond in the case Monday at $25,000 during a video arraignment from Washington County jail where Wardle also is being held on a parole detainer.
Assault arrest: Michael Aaron Palombia, 41, of Pittsburgh, was arrested Monday by state police on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend’s face through a glass door at a home on Jackson Street. The woman, Tara Marie Papale, was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Couple charged: Bernicky Mae Johnson, 46, of 409 Reed Ave., Monessen, is charged by city police with theft over allegations she stole a carpet cleaner in April from Sueann Hayden of Rostraver Street, Monessen, in a complaint filed July 28, court records show. Her husband, Marlous L. Johnson, 51, of the same address is charged with making terroristic threats over allegations he threatened July 25 to burn down Hayden’s house over the theft allegations. The office of District Judge Joseph Dalfonso issued the cases via summons Tuesday.
Crash leads to charges: Edward Eugene Stanley, 57, of 605 Reed Ave., Monessen, is charged by township police with accidents involving damage to a vehicle, driving with a suspended vehicle registration and without insurance, duty to give information and render aid and failure to notify police about an accident with injuries, court records show. Police accuse Stanley of fleeing the scene of an accident involving another motorist, Candis McAdoo, about 4:10 p.m. July 17 at Tyrol Boulevard and Lenity School Road. District Judge Joseph Dalfonso issued the charges Tuesday via summons.
Lounge cited: The operator of 84 Lounge & Lakes, Route 136, Somerset, was cited last week by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for operating from May 1 through June 17 without a valid health permit or license.
