Police Beat Aug. 25
Criminal mischief: A vehicle parked on South Main Street was spray-painted early Tuesday, state police said.
Trucker cited: Gary Coltrane, 52, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y., was cited for failure to give information after his tractor-trailer struck the mirror of another rig he was passing Monday on Interstate 70 west, state police said. Neither he nor the other driver, Jorge Rivera, 41, of Winchester, Va., was injured.
One injured: John Colvin, 40, of 21 Pine St., Clarksville, was injured Wednesday afternoon when his car went off the 1000 block of Route 519 and hit a telephone pole, knocking down wires, North Strabane police said. He told police he heard a popping sound in his vehicle before the crash. He was checked at the scene by a Canonsburg Ambulance crew.
Driver injured: Jason Meyer, 42, whose last known address was in New Eagle was injured Wednesday night when his vehicle hit a utility pole in the 2400 block of Route 88, Union, Monongahela police said. He was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital for treatment.
Man assaulted: Derrick Knox, 32, of Clarksville, told Washington police his 34-year-old girlfriend tried to run him over in the parking lot of GetGo, 104 E. Wylie Ave., Wednesday. She also allegedly had their 1 1/2-year-old child unrestrained in the vehicle. Charges are pending against the Clarksville woman, police said.
Counterfeit money: Matt Gardner of Broad Street told Washington police he received two counterfeit $20 bills as change after paying for grass-cutting. He told police the suspect drove a white, two-door pickup truck.
Parole violation: Jalene Nichols, 22, of 910 Fayette St., Washington, was taken into custody Wednesday night on a parole violation after he was spotted in Jollick Manor, Washington police said.
