Trump is like a cult leader

Putting aside the Russia investigation, since it is ongoing and has not reached a conclusion, we have a presidential administration that has many cult-like characteristics.

There’s a narcissistic leader who loves and admires himself, and who thrives on attention and extravagant admiration. He demands his subordinates and followers pledge their utmost loyalty to him. His followers believe he can do no wrong, no matter what he says or does. Actually, as he stated when he was running for president, Donald Trump could walk down Fifth Avenue and shoot someone, and he would lose no followers.

He flatters those who love him, until he has no use or purpose for them anymore, and then stabs them in the back. He tries to destroy anyone who disagrees with or opposes him with vile, demeaning, repulsive and disgusting attacks.

Trump is full of lies. He lies about everything and anything. He uses his lies and flattery to inspire people with false hopes and a false sense of security in order to gain their favor and promote himself. He is smooth, cunning and crafty, an expert at misdirection and twisting things in his favor. And, like many people whose minds have been messed with in a cult, people who choose to believe a lie rather than the truth are being misled.

Like many cult leaders, hopefully he will be exposed for whom and what he really is, and self-destruct before he takes too many people with him.

Republican Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona compares President Trump to the biblical flood to the point that we need to start building an ark. I consider him to be more like the biblical character called the son of perdition, who is revealed only after the truth erodes to a point where it doesn’t matter anymore.

I say it is time to get into that ark called truth.
