No state budgets, no paychecks

In regards to the article in Monday’s paper on Pennsylvania lawmakers protecting their own funds during budget stalemates, it is ridiculous that they are looking to protect their own paychecks.

When the employers of everyday workers run out of money, they don’t get paychecks. Or when employees go on strike, they don’t receive a paycheck. It should be the same for state lawmakers. If they cannot come to an agreement on a state budget, they, as well as the governor, should have to go without a paycheck. Maybe then they would work harder to get the budget passed.

As elected officials, they work for us and our interests. Not their own. Or at least that’s how it is supposed to be. It’s high time we start reminding them of that.
