Summer Festival will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 68 Highland Ave., Washington. There will be membership sign-up, NAACP information and voter registration. The City of Washington Fire Department will arrive at 3 p.m. There also will be free food, games, 50/50 raffle, giveaways and a book sale.

Washington County Council of Democratic Women will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the pavilion behind Consol Energy Park. Bring a covered dish to share.

Waynesburg University’s Stover Scholars will present “From Framers to Farmers: The Substantial Effect of Wheat Upon the Constitution” at noon Thursday in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center. The play follows the 1942 Supreme Court case Wickard v. Filburn, which examined wheat farmer Roscoe Filburn’s prosecution under the New Deal’s Agricultural Adjustment Act for growing too much wheat for his family’s own use. Admission is free, but tickets must be reserved at www.waynesburg.ticketleap.com/constitutionday2017.
