Edward A. Crawford

Edward A. “Elmo” Crawford, 58, of Meadow Lands, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born February 22, 1955, in Canonsburg, a son of Gladys E. Crawford Demo.

Mr. Crawford was employed at Torrance State Hospital in Blairsville, where he was a residential service aide. He had also worked at Western Center and Mayview State Hospital.

He was a member of SNPJ Lodge 138 in Strabane and AFSCME Local 2344.

Mr. Crawford had served in the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, camping and scrapping.

On November 13, 1976, he married Nancy Lesjak, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Eric Crawford (Stephanie) of Houston and Edward Crawford of Uniontown; three grandchildren, Alexis and Shane Crawford and Isabella Robinson; two sisters, Edna Miller (Bill) of Charleroi and Mary Lou Roessler (Don) of Canonsburg; an aunt who helped raise him, Wilma Simpson of Eighty Four; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, with the Rev. Clarejean Haury officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Condolences may be left by viewing the obituary at www.mcilvaine-speakman.com.
