Kier leads Cal to rout of Cheyney
CALIFORNIA – Michael Kier threw for five touchdowns and California University won its second straight game, routing Cheyney, 54-14, in a PSAC crossover game Saturday afternoon at Adamson Stadium.
Kier completed 16 of 23 passes for 221 yards for the fifth-ranked Vulcans, who are now 13-1 since head coach Gary Dunn took over last season.
Jordan Dandridge caught 4 passes for 100 yards, including an 18-yard touchdown that helped the Vulcans to a 33-0 halftime lead.
Luke Smorey and Tom Greene each caught two touchdown passes and Chad Livingston added a late TD reception.
Six players combined to rush for 185 yards for Cal, led by Nick Grissom’s 61 on 9 tries. DiAngelo Mitchell scored on a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter, his first of the season.
Cheyney (1-1) scored touchdowns at the end of the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
