PITTSBURGH – Police in Western Pennsylvania say an off-duty constable shot and killed a man who fired at a younger man during a domestic dispute in a Pittsburgh home.

A Pittsburgh police spokesman said a man and a woman were in a domestic dispute in a Homewood residence Wednesday, and the woman’s daughter came over with her boyfriend, a state constable for 13 years.

Police said other family members wanted the man to leave and were packing some bags when he pulled a revolver and fired at the woman’s 19-year-old son, hitting him in the shoulder. Kraus said he refused an order to drop the weapon and fired again, so the constable shot him several times.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said no charges have been filed.
