Rose Anna Freed, 93, of Meadow Lands, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in Premier Washington Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born April 4, 1924, in Meadow Lands, a daughter of Louis and Rosalie Yohant Unicek.
Mrs. Freed was part of the first graduating class of Chartiers High School in 1942.
She had worked for PA Transformer in Canonsburg as a secretary.
Mrs. Freed was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, where she was a member of Christian Mothers and Guild, Rosary Society and was a 30-year volunteer secretary with the CCD program.
In 1971, she became a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Chartiers Volunteer Fire Company.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On November 26, 1949, she married Robert L. Freed, who died December 31, 2011.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Anne Akana (Carleton) of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Cynthia Freed of Moon Township; three grandchildren, Peter Vespignani, Alicia Kelch and Justin Akana; three great-grandchildren, Haley and Harper Kelch and Kainalu Akana; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Janice Chehovin and Rose Mary Kosiorek, whose caring will never be forgotten.
Deceased are four brothers, Louis, Leon, Rudolph and Matthew Unicek, and a sister, Sophia Unicek, who died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, February 2, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with the Rev. Carmen D’Amico as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
The staff at Premier Washington Health Center, 2 South, especially Jan Markley, provided her with care and support.
