Matthew Edward Johns, 37, of Peters Township, died suddenly Tuesday, February 6, 2018, in a car accident.
He was born and raised in Peters Township, was a 1999 graduate of Peters Township High School and attended Thiel College and Washington & Jefferson College. He was a member of St. Benedict the Abbot Church.
Mr. Johns was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle and friend. To know him was to love him. He had an incredible charisma and charm that drew others to him. Children and animals were especially fond of him, knowing intrinsically that within him was a kind and gentle spirit.
He is survived by his sons, Tyler Matthew and Mason Edward of Butler; parents, Martin and Barbara Johns of McMurray; sister Julia Johns of McMurray; brother Martin (Gretchen) Johns of New Castle; nephews and nieces Tripp, Shane, Eliana, Kiersten and Henry Johns of New Castle; and aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom will miss him dearly.
Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Beinhauer, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 10, in St. Benedict the Abbot Church, 120 Abington Drive, McMurray. Guests are asked to meet at the church.
