Amil Stanley Hodor, 96, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, February 21, 2018, in his home surrounded by family members.

He was from Washington, born April 27, 1921, in Vestaburg, a son of the late Stanley and Nellie Hodor, who immigrated from Poland.

In 1942, in Holy Trinity Church, he married Gertrude Macanga of Meadow Lands, who survives.

Mr. Hodor was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Washington Steel Corp. He also constructed several homes in the area.

Surviving are three children, Edward Hodor (Paula) of Eighty Four and twins Don Hodor (Geri) of Southpointe and Donna Carl (Fred) of Pickerington, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Hodor (Cindy) of Annapolis, Md., Kellie Hagerman (Mike) of Canonsburg, Christie Hodor of Annapolis, Shawn Carl of Pickerington, Kristin Kemp (Justin) of Pickerington and Elana Slagle of Ohio; and seven great-grandchildren, Brendan, Isabella and Caden Hagerman of Canonsburg, Marin and Channing Hodor of Annapolis and Kylah and Alina Kemp of Ohio.

Deceased are two sisters, Mildred Ziemba and Mary Hodor, who died at birth; and a twin brother, Joseph, who died at birth.

Bunny Miller, family nurse, Tony Chadwick and Gateway Hospice staff provided care for Mr. Hodor.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Dale D. DeAngelo Funeral Home, 1290 Jefferson Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday, February 26, in Holy Trinity National Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, with Father Mark Swoger as celebrant. Following will be full military honors by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post 175 of Washington.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Hodor requested donations to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
