Martha L. Hill, 82, of Greensboro, died at 4:26 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, in her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born August 29, 1935, in Dunkard Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Harry A. and Margaret R. Downey Hill.

Ms. Hill was a 1955 graduate of Mapletown High School and resided most of her life in the Greensboro area and all of her life in Greene County. She worked as a cook at Rohanna’s Golf Course for 10 years before working for 15 years as a cook at West Virginia University Hospital. She then was a cook and cashier for 20 years at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. After her retirement, she worked as a home health aide in the local area.

She was a faithful member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, leader for the Baptist Fellowship Youth and youth Sunday school teacher. In addition, she was a delegate to Ten Mile Baptist Association and, at Sugar Grove Baptist, headed up the breakfast meals and served as a clown for the puppet ministry. She was a member of True Blue Sunday school class and always enjoyed helping her neighbors. She won many ribbons for her house plants, baked goods, canned goods and crafts at Greene County Fair and was an animal lover.

Surviving are her brother, the Rev. Harry A. Hill and wife Patty of Greensboro; three sisters, Nettie E. Hill, with whom she made her home, Florence Lynn of Smithton and Dorothy Koast of Fairchance; and several loved nieces and nephews.

Deceased are a brother, Ross J. Hill Sr.; sister Catherine Kuhn; two nephews, Ross Hill Jr. and Nathan Hill; niece Debbie Lynn; and two great-nieces.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street, Route 88, Carmichaels, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, with Pastor Frank Vucic officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Mapletown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sugar Grove Baptist Church.
