Monongahela fills vacancy on civil service board
MONONGAHELA – Monongahela Council on Thursday filled a vacancy on the city’s Civil Service Commission, an appointment that was needed as its police department prepares to hire two full-time officers.
Council appointed retired Ringgold School District teacher and former city councilman Alan Veliky to the commission during a special meeting.
Councilman Rusty Polonoli said Veliky was the only applicant for the seat that became vacant after Polonoli was elected to council in November. Polonoli said he resigned from the commission.
