Wilda G. Vernillo, 89, of Midway, died Thursday, April 4, 2013, in McMurray Hills Manor.
She was born December 3, 1923, in Midway, a daughter of the late Merle and Mary Farris Heuston.
Mrs. Vernillo was a teacher at Robinson School and was a member of Midway Methodist Church. She was very active in volunteer work, especially at her church and Meals On Wheels. She was an avid Fort Cherry sports supporter.
Surviving are sons John (Janice) Vernillo of Midway and Donald (Linda) Vernillo of Ga.; grandchildren Michael Vernillo, Lindsay (Jon) Snatchko, Nicholas, Weston (Lindsey) and Andrew Vernillo; great-grandchildren Niko and Kyleigh Vernillo; and nephews Gary, Charles and Terry Havelka.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Vernillo, in 1973; sister Naomi “Punky” Havelka; and brother Merle W. Heuston.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc., 106 St. John Street, Midway, 724-796-3301, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Florence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heritage Public Library, 52 Fourth Street, McDonald, PA 15057.
