West Virginia University basketball coach Bob Huggins says three players have asked for their release and plan to transfer.

Jabarie Hinds received the most playing time of the three, appearing in all 32 games last season. The 5-11 guard from Mount Vernon, N.Y., averaged 7.4 points per game.

Huggins says the others who are transferring are 6-5 guard Aaron Brown of Darby, and 6-10 forward Volodymyr Gerun of the Ukraine. Brown appeared in 17 games, Gerun in seven. All three players are sophomores.

The Mountaineers lost their last seven games of the season to finish 13-19, the worst record in Huggins’ 31 years as a head coach.
