A Washington man arrested last summer after he allegedly assaulted a prostitute at his home was charged again in the incident after he reportedly did not follow through with a plea agreement.

Vincent F. Davenport, 51, of 375 Locust Ave., was arraigned Friday before District Judge Traci McDonald on charges of aggravated assault, strangulation, terroristic threats and patronizing a prostitute filed by city police.

Cpl. Jack Hancock, who filed the charges, said Davenport was to take a plea but backed out on the deal.

Police were called to his home July 16 for a report of a woman screaming. As they were on their way, a neighbor called back and said the woman was screaming someone was trying to kill her.

When police arrived at Davenport’s home, it took several minutes before he answered the door. Police said neither he nor the 28-year-old Canonsburg woman inside the home was wearing any clothing.

Police said the woman was upset and shaking. There was broken glass, and the residence was in disarray.

The alleged victim had red marks on her neck. She told police she had taken $40 from Davenport for sex, but he later became angry and grabbed her around the neck.

Davenport was placed in Washington County jail on $75,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
