CHARLEROI – A North Belle Vernon man accused of conspiring with his father to sell heroin and fentanyl saw his case transferred Thursday to Washington County, where his father is awaiting trial in the case.

District attorneys in Washington and Westmoreland counties met earlier about the cases and decided it would be best to handle them in one county, District Judge Larry Hopkins said.

Hopkins continued a preliminary hearing Thursday for Quinton Anthony Martin, 31, of North Belle Vernon, because he appeared for his preliminary hearing without an attorney. Hopkins on Feb. 22 ordered Martin’s father, Herbert Russell Green, 52, of Charleroi, to stand trial in the case in Washington County.

The men were arrested Feb. 13 after state police raided their homes and said they seized heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

Police said 37 bricks of heroin were discovered while searching Martin’s vehicle and residence at 109 A Grant St. Also discovered there were 15 grams of cocaine and 40 grams of marijuana, police alleged in court documents.

During a simultaneous search of Green’s residence at 405 Lookout Ave., police said they discovered 331 stamp bags of heroin, court records show.

Martin and Green are charged with conspiracy to deliver drugs, drug possession with intent to deliver, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. Martin faces additional charges of cocaine and marijuana possession.

Green remains in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by Hopkins.

Martin was transferred Thursday from Westmoreland County jail to the jail in Washington, where he was being held on $250,000 bond set by District Judge Charles Christner in Westmoreland County.
