Loretta Semon Paletta

Loretta Semon Paletta, 91, of Washington, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, in her home.

She was born March 8, 1926, in Hamtramck, Mich., a daughter of Tony Semon and Mary Sieracki. At age one, she moved to Washington, where she resided for 85 years. She then moved to Berwyn, where she lived with her daughter for five years, before returning to Washington.

Mrs. Paletta was a 1943 graduate of Trinity High School and Penn Commercial.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, Washington, and Women’s Adoration Society.

Mrs. Paletta was employed as a secretary by Washington County Republican Committee for 27 years. She was later appointed treasurer of Washington County Republican Committee. Her deep love of politics had her attending the 1968 Republican National Convention in Miami, Fla. She also served for several years on Washington County Republican Women’s Committee, where she held the position of treasurer.

On December 7, 1959, she married John Robert Paletta, who died March 31, 1999.

Surviving are a son, David Semon Paletta; daughter, Amy Louise Duffey; and grandchildren John “Jack” Duffey and Valerie Duffey, twins, John Robert Paletta and Maria Ann Paletta. Mrs. Paletta was proud to have Martin Duffey as her son-in-law and Pauline Paletta as her daughter-in-law.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, are a brother, Edward, and sister, Charlotte.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. Monday, March 5, in Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, 605 Hewitt Avenue, Washington, with Father Mark Swoger as celebrant. Private interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Polish National Catholic Church, Washington.
