Violence begets violence

While observing the March For Our Lives, I couldn’t help but notice some of the signs that were inappropriate and some of the vitriol coming from some of the young speakers. They called anyone who received money from the NRA a “killer.” What would they call anyone who received money from the Democratic National Committee, which has abortion on demand written into its platform? Many more innocent children have been killed through abortion than school shootings.

I am not making light of the shootings. My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones or were injured, and those who now fear going to school. I’ve been out of school for more than 50 years and thank God that I never had to face this, even though the Second Amendment was in effect and the NRA existed.

What has changed? Prayer was taken out of schools in 1962. Our liberal society has tried to remove God from every area of our lives, especially school. Movies, television, video games and the internet contain so much violence, and our children are exposed 24/7. We are letting our children down by not disciplining them at home or school. When a child appears to have serious psychological problems the school needs to have the ability to get help for them, not expel them. We don’t need to remove the Second Amendment or arrest all NRA members. We need better background checks. We also need to have people in the schools carrying guns, whether they be custodians, teachers or guards. They should, of course, be well trained in the use of guns. These shootings always happen in “gun free” zones. If there had been some armed individuals at Parkland, they could have stopped Nikolas Cruz.
