Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate did not change in February. It remained at 4.8 percent for a ninth consecutive month, according to figures reported Friday by state Department of Labor & Industry.

The Keystone State’s jobless rate remained well above the U.S. figure for February of 4.1 percent, but dropped from 5.1 percent in February 2017.

Pennsylvania’s civilian labor force dropped by 3,000 since January to 6.41 million. Over the year, employment was down about 11,000.

Total nonfarm jobs were up 1.4 percent over the year.

Nine so-called “super-sectors” experienced job increases statewide since February 2017, the largest increase coming in education and health services (up 34,800). Government (down 3,400) had the biggest decline. By industry sector, nine of the 11 groups saw an increase in jobs over the last year.
