Vincent E. Travis

Vincent E. Travis, 81, of Avella, died Saturday, March 24, 2018, in Florida Hospital Heartland Medical Center, Sebring, Fla.

He was born March 28, 1936, in East Finley, a son of the late Nelson Travis and Beatrice Mahan Travis.

Mr. Travis worked for Dutton Paving, Taylorstown Oil Co. and Travis Paving. He retired from Jessop Steel in 1995.

After retirement, he lived the winter months in Frostproof, Fla., and summers in Avella.

Mr. Travis was a member of Taylorstown Christian Church, Antique Tractor Association, American Quarter Horse Association and State Line Saddle Club.

He enjoyed working on antique tractors and cars and played for Taylorstown dartball team.

On February 28, 1953, he married Marjorie L. Stewart, who died January 19, 2007.

Surviving are four children, William (Karen) Travis of Taylorstown, Barbara Carlisle of Avella, Brenda (Eric) Stanley of Champion and Jay (Nancy) Travis of Taylorstown; six grandchildren, Keith (Jill) Carlisle, Derrick Carlisle, Dana Stanley, Heath Stanley, Amber Travis and Aubrie Travis; six great-grandchildren, Delaney, Logan, Ryker and Tiege Carlisle, Ethan Martin and Avery Stanley; his companion, June Bohannon; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are his siblings, Leo, James and Harvey Travis and Shirley Chaney.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, with the Rev. Michael Lehman officiating. Burial will follow in Claysville Cemetery.
