Jordan Luplow, Bligh Madris and Ke’Bryan Hayes all homered for Pittsburgh but the Pirates lost 12-6 to Boston in a spring training game Tuesday in Fort Myers, Fla.

The Pirates fell behind early after Boston scored six runs in the first four innings off of starting pitcher Joe Musgrove. Making his second start of the spring, Musgrove gave up eight hits and six runs in four innings.

Luplow’s solo home run led off the third inning, which the Pirates also later added another run on an Adam Frazier double to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Boston exploded in the sixth inning by batting around and scoring six runs, including a three-run home run from Sam Travis.

Jordy Mercer was 2-for-3 and scored a run for the Pirates.

Mitch Moreland went 3-for-3 with an RBI and scored for Boston.
