On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the age of 58, Jim Sheehan fell into an eternal sleep with his wife Sabra’s hands in his.

He leaves behind his wife, Sabra, and the children that were the joy of his life, Corey Sheehan, Katera Luzadder and husband Chad with granddaughter Ella James and Cullen Sheehan. Also surviving are his mother, Betty Canary Sheehan, wife of the late Lou Sheehan, and his seven sisters and their husbands, Kathy and Rich Valentino, Patty and Rob Guerriere, May Anne Thompson, Beth and Joe Gibson, Eileen Rush, Joni and Ed Hundzienski and Peggy and Randy Trefnoff; as well as Sabra’s brothers and sisters and their wives, Robin and Roberta Shoop, Charlie and Linda Murphy and Tim and Julie Sheehan; and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sheehan traveled across the country after graduating high school. After his travels, he spent his life building things, helping friends and family and genuinely bringing happiness to the people that he touched.

He was a union carpenter and a devoted husband, father, loving grandfather and a genuine friend to all that knew him. Mr. Sheehan taught everyone who knew him about patience and kindness. He took control of what was in his power and accepted life’s challenges as they came. Last summer, he learned of his biggest challenge, inoperable lung cancer. He was determined to battle cancer with the same resilience that he demonstrated during his life. He fought his last battle bravely and without complaint. He will certainly be missed here on Earth, but his friends and family know that he is now in a much better place with the Lord.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 2, in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. All those wishing to follow in the procession may meet by 10:30 a.m. at Nichol Funeral Home, 1873 East Maiden Street, Washington. A guest book may be signed at http://www.nicholfuneralhome.com/.
