Pauline C. Piatt
Pauline C. Piatt, 91, passed from this life to heaven in the morning of Thursday, April 26, 2018, in her room at Meadows Manor, Dallas.
Paulie was born December 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Savine and Jennie Carpinelli of Tower Hill No. 2, Fayette County.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her husband, Joseph H. Piatt Sr.; two brothers and a sister, Carmine Carpenelli, Michael Carpinelli and Angeline Carpinelli; and her two daughters, Alice Piatt and Rebecca Piatt Ettling.
Surviving are her two sons and their wives, Dr. Joseph H. Piatt Jr. and Elizabeth Cosgriff of Merion Station and attorney Lee S. Piatt and Meryth A. Piatt of Lehman Township, Luzerne County; a son-in-law, John Ettling of Charleston, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Alyson Piatt, Caleb Piatt, Timothy Piatt, Margaret Cosgriff, Philip Piatt, Arthur Piatt, James Piatt, Madeline Cosgriff and Alice Ettling; and a great-granddaughter, Elyana Burton.
Paulie spoke fondly and gratefully of the diverse immigrant “coal patch” she grew up in during the Depression. After graduating from Redstone High School, she went to Waynesburg College, where she majored in chemistry, excelled on the debate team and met her husband. She finished her formal education with a master of science degree in chemistry from University of Pittsburgh, but intermittently dabbled in study of more than six foreign languages throughout her adult life, although she never traveled outside North America.
A beloved women’s Bible study leader for more than 50 years, her pretty smile, joyful spirit and genuine interest in others will be long remembered by family and friends. To many, she exhibited the peace and joy of a spirit-filled Christian woman. Her loved ones will also always be thankful for her strength of character, love and submission to her husband and her unconditional love and endless encouragement of her children and grandchildren.
After a private burial in Marianna, a memorial service in Fellowship Church, Dallas, is being planned.
Donations may be made in memory of Paulie Piatt to Fellowship Church, Dallas, and will be used for its Legacy of Worship campaign.
