Patient accused of assaulting five Mon Valley Hospital staff members
A Monongahela man is facing charges he attempted to disarm a police officer and assaulted five Mon Valley Hospital staff members last week in the hospital’s behavioral health unit.
Vasco Mario Mucci, 35, of 600 Meade St., was arraigned Monday before District Judge Mark Wilson on five counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault and one count each of disarming a police officer and criminal mischief.
Carroll Township police accuse Mucci of attempting to pull a handgun from a holster worn by Monongahela police Sgt. Dennis Mendicino after being taken to the hospital about 12:45 p.m. Thursday, court records show.
Police said a Carroll officer and a security guard restrained Mucci after he allegedly assaulted the hospital employees, who were either pushed, struck or scratched by the suspect.
Mucci is free on $10,000 bond.
