Richard Andrew Buchko, 71, of Monongahela, died Monday, April 9, 2018, in his home.
He was born November 20, 1946, in North Charleroi, a son of Andrew and Mary Simko Buchko.
Richard was a 1964 graduate of Donora High School.
He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He retired with more than 30 years of employment from McGrew Welding & Fabricating in Donora.
A member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish in Monongahela, he was also a very devoted life member of Gallatin-Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren and, when he had time, enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Huntoon Buchko, with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage August 30, 2017; daughter Leslie Hess and husband John of Monongahela; son Aaron Buchko of Monongahela; four grandchildren, Ali and Adam Hess and Chloe and Emily Buchko; sister Beverly Chromulak and husband Ron of Monessen; brother-in-law Walter Huntoon of New Eagle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Frye Funeral Home Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 13. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Monongahela, with the Rev. William Terza, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, with military honors accorded by Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
