Evelyn Jean Houston, 87, of Washington, died Friday, November 9, 2012, in Donnell House, Washington, following declining health.
She was born May 7, 1925, in Amity, a daughter of the late Aaron and Grace Ross Sanders.
Mrs. Houston was a member of Church of the Covenant in Washington.
She was a 1944 graduate of Trinity High School.
Mrs. Houston was a teachers’ aide at Washington School District for 21 years. She also worked at Washington Credit Bureau and was a seamstress.
One of her loves in life was watching her grandchildren as they played sports.
On August 19, 1944, she married Lloyd E. Houston Sr., who died December 8, 1965.
Surviving are a son, Terry L. (Janet) Houston of Washington; a brother, Carl Sanders of Virginia; three sisters, Claretta Phillips of Prosperity and Audrey Barnes and June Reihner, both of Washington; two grandchildren, Megan and Zachary Houston; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Lloyd Edward Houston Jr., and a brother, Duane Sanders.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, director, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 12, with the Rev. Michael Lehman officiating. Interment will follow in Amity Presbyterian Cemetery.
