Spanish flu topic of meeting
Dr. Thomas Soltis of Westmoreland County Community College will be guest speaker at the Wednesday meeting of the California Area Historical Society. The topic is “The Spanish Lady Invades Western Pennsylvania: The 1918 Influenza Pandemic in our Area.” Soltis has taught courses in sociology and anthropology at WCCC since 1990, and won the Outstanding Teacher Award there in 2001 and 2016.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Gallagher House, 429 Wood Street, California. Parking is available in the Presbyterian Church lot.
