SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — Cedar Point says testing is under way on its new 170-foot tall roller coaster.
Officials at the park in Sandusky say the coaster trains ran for the first time last Thursday on the on the “winged” roller-coaster called GateKeeper.
A Cedar Point official tells The Blade newspaper in Toledo that the test rides will go on seven days a week for the next four weeks.
But before real people can get on, the first test rides will carry water-filled dummies.
Cedar Point’s new coaster is designed to make riders feel like they’re flying. The blue-steeled tubular coaster will have riders on seats that extend sideways from the track, with nothing above or below them.
The coaster will soar over a new main entrance while turning riders upside-down.
