Jefferson R. “Fritz” Fitzgerald III, 80, of Washington, passed away at 7:17 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home in Washington.

He was born July 24, 1932, in Charleroi, a son of the late Jefferson R. Jr. and Bernadine Daugherty Fitzgerald.

Mr. Fitzgerald lived for many years in Muse and was widely known as a baseball umpire.

He had been employed as head caster for Rubber Rolls in Meadow Lands prior to his retirement.

Mr. Fitzgeral served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On August 31, 1955, he married Sandra “Sandy” Boyd, who passed away November 14, 2004.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela (Paul) Czarnecki of Washington; a grandson, Jason Weyandt; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Weyandt.

There will be no public visitation or services. Private interment will take place in Oak Spring Cemetery, Chartiers Township.
