A Pittsburgh man is being held on $100,000 bond after being charged by Peters Township police Wednesday with failing to have a license to carry a weapon, theft, being prohibited from possessing a firearm and access device fraud.
Jerry Anthony Pratt Jr., 39, of 950 Second St., was arraigned by video from Butler County by District Judge James Ellis.
The charges stem from incidents at 101 Lightholder Drive, McMurray, and in a parking lot of 465 Valley Brook Road, police said.
Pratt met Lindsay Adams through a dating service in early March and convinced her to loan him her credit cards, telling her he had lost his wallet and was locked out of his apartment, police said.
Pratt told Adams, police said, that he needed the cards to purchase gift cards for his staff and that he would credit her account.
However, police said Pratt used the cards to purchase items in multiple stores, including buying a refrigerator and gift cards. He also used the cards to pay his cellphone bill and to receive $900 in cash advances, police said.
He used her PayPal credit card on seven occasions for a bill of more than $655, and her MasterCard eight times for unauthorized charges of $651. The total Pratt charged on Adams’ cards was $4,653.
When he met Adams March 12 at South Hills Village, they traveled to a coffee shop at 465 Valley Brook Road, then to a drug store in Bethel Park, where police said he produced two handguns from under the car seat, inserted a magazine in one and placed it in Adams’ lap.
Pratt is wanted on a bench warrant from Allegheny County and on a federal supervision release violation from Nov. 22, 2010. He is not permitted to have weapons as he was convicted on two felonies including receiving stolen property and as a fugitive from justice.
