The Sunday letter by Larry Douglas of Waynesburg about Obamacare, as he deridingly calls it, is, in a way, sad.

He speculates this law will change the definition of the American Dream by limiting the ability of people to have a better life and the opportunity to achieve. It seems to me the Affordable Care Act has the potential to do the opposite. Could it be that many people don’t have the opportunity for a richer and fuller life because they lack access to adequate health care?

What’s sad in the criticism of this law is a lack of an appreciation for the greater good of our society. Aren’t we all better when the “playing field” is a bit more level? I would gladly pay a little more for my hamburger to make it so.
