Westmoreland Conservation District will hold a Mosquito and Tick Talk from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at 218 Donohoe Road, Greensburg. Chelsea Gross, West Nile virus program technician with the conservation district, will present this free two-part informational seminar. Admission is free, but space is limited. The Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh will present public star parties on Friday and Saturday at Mingo Creek Observatory (near Shelter 10), Mingo Creek County Park, Eighty Four. The program will begin at dusk. If it is raining or cloudy the program will be canceled. Reservations are not required, and there is no fee. For information, visit www.3ap.org.
The John Heinz History Center will host “Slay the Gerrymander: Bar Games for Democracy” in partnership with Draw the Lines PA at 6 p.m. Friday. The program will educate attendees about the issue of gerrymandering and explore its impact on our democracy. Admission is $10 per person and includes a complimentary drink ticket and a free pass for a future visit to the History Center. Admission does not include access to museum exhibitions. A rummage sale/yard sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Cokeburg Presbyterian Church, 100 Washington Street. The kitchen will be open for snacks.
