Ernest A. Loar
Ernest A. “Thumper” Loar, 61, of Carmichaels, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, in Donnell House, Washington, following a two-year battle with cancer.
He was born April 16, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Fay M. Bowman Loar of Carmichaels and the late Ernest E. Loar.
Ernest was a graduate of Carmichaels Area High School and received an associate’s degree from California College for Health Sciences in respiratory therapy. He was employed with The Caring Mission and TCM Home Health.
Thumper enjoyed playing golf, attending car shows, drag racing and cruising in his 1968 Chevelle. Most of all, he cherished spending time with family and friends. According to his family, “He never met a stranger, and his infectious smile could light up the room.”
On June 28, 2013, he married Tammy R. Basiorka, who survives.
Also surviving are his son, Adam Loar and wife Tiffany of Rices Landing; daughter Ashley Loar of Mather; stepdaughter Kelsey Basiorka of Carmichaels; three grandchildren, Tomi Loar, Andi Loar and Khloe Hutchinson; brother Wendell “Smokey” Loar and wife Chylene of Clarksville; two nieces, Tasha Harden and Sydnee Loar; and nephew Austin Loar.
Family and friends are welcome from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, with Pastor Nick Bardo officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
