Police: Nude Pittsburgh man stops I-79 traffic in South Strabane
A Pittsburgh man is in custody on charges he was nude on the berm of Interstate 79 Tuesday afternoon throwing beer bottles onto the highway in South Strabane Township.
A state trooper found Montez David Freeman, 36, rolling around and flailing on the concrete berm surrounded by many shattered bottles about 4:20 p.m., court records allege.
Freeman drove a 2018 Chevrolet Impala into a grassy area off the right berm and parked it there along I-79 south, police stated in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case.
Traffic was heavy at the time, police said, and it came to a halt after Freeman allegedly walked into the right lane of travel.
Several motorists called state police to report the nude man, and state police also broadcast a be-on-the-lookout alert for the situation, the record states.
Freeman walked into traffic as a state trooper approached him. He soon complied with orders to get on the ground.
He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, risking a catastrophe, open lewdness, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
He is in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Traci L. McDonald.
