Walter E. Tworzydlo

Walter E. “Wudge” Tworzydlo, 87, of Richeyville, died Saturday, July 21, 2018.

He was born September 14, 1930, a son of the late Andrew J. and Martha Daracz Tworzydlo.

Mr. Tworzydlo was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corporal in the U.S. Army. For his service, he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He was employed by LTV Vesta No. 5 coal mine for many years. He was also employed by Marshall Chemical Co., J&L Steel and Crown Cork and Steel, all of Cleveland, Ohio.

Mr. Tworzydlo was a lifelong member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Richeyville campus. He was also a member of United Mine Workers of America, Centerville Sportsmen’s Club and American Legion Post 705, Centerville.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting and spending time at his camp in Markleysburg.

Surviving are a sister, Jean Zurro of Macomb Township, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Helen Tworzydlo of Richeyville, Dorothy Tworzydlo of Ohio and Ellen Tworzydlo of Algonac, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Karen Gonzales (Marion) of Katy, Texas, and Janet Regan (Daniel) of Gibsonia; six stepgrandchildren, Dawn Scheve, Kristin Dry, Dan Regan, Tres Kennedy, Matt Regan and Maggie Regan; 10 stepgreat-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Mildred Inez Tworzydlo, who died September 16, 2011; four brothers, Joseph, Frank, John and Robert Tworzydlo; and four sisters, Mary Wecoski, Josephine Glista, Frances Barthlovich and Genevieve Brandenburg.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, Richeyville campus, with the Rev. Edward L. Yuhas, administrator, officiating. Interment will be in Beallsville Cemetery, with full graveside military rites accorded by American Legion Post 705, Centerville.
