Loretta LaSalvia
Loretta LaSalvia, 100, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Premier Washington Health Center, Chartiers Township.
She was born July 9, 1918, in Calabria, Italy, a daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria Zicarelli. Mrs. LaSalvia lived most of her life in Canonsburg, where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers and Guild.
Loretta was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and bingo. She was employed by Washington County Health Center for 10 years as a seamstress and at Carl’s Cleaners in Canonsburg for 20 years.
In September 1948, she married August LaSalvia, who passed away in 1968.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, August LaSalvia and wife Christine; three grandchildren, Charles Tenny (Stacey), Nichole Tenny and Christopher LaSalvia (Erica); four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Alexa Peton and Leah and Taylor LaSalvia.
Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are her daughter, Frances Karafilis and Sarah, who died in infancy.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday, August 6. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will be private in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
