Disability Rights Pa. to host listening session

Disability Rights Pennsylvania will host a public forum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Transitional Paths to Independent Living’s Center for Independent Living, 69 E. Beau St., Washington. The event is free and open to the public. This forum will have an ASL interpreter and CART accommodations.

Citizens from Washington and the surrounding Southwestern Pennsylvania communities are encouraged to attend and speak during the open forum session. Topics can include abuse and neglect of individuals with disabilities, discrimination, special education, voting access, assistive technology, effective communication, access to health and mental health care, employment, nursing home transition, and more.

DRP is federally funded and gathers community input to help develop its work plan every three years. A report, along with the final work plan for fiscal years 2019 to 2021 will be issued in September.
