William J. Heirendt
William J. “Pinetree” Heirendt, 71, of McDonald, died Saturday, August 11, 2018, in his home.
He was born April 6, 1947, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Nicholas S. and Margaret Deichler Heirendt.
Mr. Heirendt was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School and attended Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He earned an associate’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
He worked as an electrician for Duquesne Light in Pittsburgh and later for First Energy’s Beaver Valley Power Plant. He retired in 2010.
Mr. Heirendt was a member of McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, McDonald American Legion Post 485 and McDonald Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 567.
He enjoyed fishing and fantasy football. He played softball in the McDonald Community League and coached girls softball.
On February 15, 1969, he married Marlene Lesjak, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Nicole D. (Kevin Kees) Heirendt and Michelle N. (Scott) Ehrgood, both of McDonald; a brother, Nick H. (Connie) Heirendt of McDonald; and four grandchildren, Connor, Mecca and Gavin Ehrgood, and William S. Ackley.
Deceased are two brothers, Lawrence (Mary of McDonald) Heirendt and Jack D. (Sharon Goodearl of McDonald) Heirendt.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, in Nation Funeral Home Inc., 220 East Lincoln Avenue, McDonald, where a memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. that evening.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to McDonald Volunteer Fire Department, 150 North McDonald Street, McDonald, PA 15057.
